This system allows a sound source to be positioned in any point of virtual three-dimensional space. The algorithm allows the information relating to both the horizontal and vertical positions to be encoded.
This phenomenon takes place when either the sound source or the listener are moving. The classic example that is always given is the ambulance siren speeding past us and disappearing into the night.
