Microphones and miking techniques - Pressure microphones

The polar pattern in this case is the figure of 8 type. This type of diagram is produced with ribbon microphones. In this case the microphone is stimulated by the sounds coming from the lateral positions, whereas the frontal sounds (or the rear-end sounds) do not get picked up. These microphones are useful for stereo recordings, and we will shortly look at how to use them in this context.
