This is a digital machine that uses an algorithm that is capable of widening the sound image by acting on the phases. The following diagram illustrates the various positions availabe. We see how the Q4 position allows almost a 180° widening of the stereo sound field. This kind of algorithm is very heavy in terms of demanded processing power and therefore at the module's output the signal has a little delay in relation to the input signal. This should be taken into account in situations where synchronization is necessary.

In any case, we must remember that this is a very arbitrary manipulation which can potentially turn the original sound into an artificial sound, and should therefore only be used in the kind of situation where a special effect is needed.
