Signal-to-noise ratio (often abbreviated SNR or S/N) is an electrical engineering measurement, also used in other fields (such as scientific measurement or biological cell signaling), defined as the ratio of a signal power to the noise power corrupting the signal.

    Standard Operating Level
    We have spoken about the audio chain and the different stages a sound signal goes through to be constantly transformed into what we need. Every stage receives an electric signal entry, it manipulates it and returns as output the result of the manipulation that has taken place.
    Dynamic Range
    By dynamic range we mean the interval, measured in dB (the dB varies depending upon the dynamics of the contexts we are dealing with), between the lowest value that an audio signal can have and its highest.
    Compressor
    This is undoubtedly the most important processor. The compressor works on the dynamic range Dynamic Range of the input signal and reduces its amplitude when it goes beyond a certain limit: this reduction is expressed by a ratio, for example 3:1.
